I was having difficulty seeing on the small viewscreen and this idea solved my problem.
DIVERGENT MEDIA SCOPEBOX MANUAL
I found this very helpful! I recently started to expand my Alpha 77 and Infrared modified Alpha 65 cameras by getting a tilt-shift lens, which is manual focus. Then use remote camera control via the usual USB cable. If you have a second monitor (or TV) that has HDMI input you can simply plug it into that. All images taken are saved in the defined directory (no images saved to camera while using remote). I can immediately do some edits or adjustments or continue taking photos (photos will continue to auto import to LR5 - last image taken shows in the LR5 Develop screen). The photo file auto imports to the predefined directory and is visible in LR5 Develop screen. I click on the Shutter Button on the "Remote Camera Control". When using this setup I see a Live View on the second monitor.

Camera connect to PC with USB cable.Ģ) Camera connected to second monitor with HDMI cable for Live View.ģ) LR5 setup to Auto Import (define directory to auto import from).Ĥ) In the "Remote Camera Control" app you also define the same directory as in #3 for the image to be saved from the camera. This way I have Live View always visible on the second monitor while LR5 auto imports the image just recorded.ġ) Camera USB Connection set to "PC Remote". I want to see LR5 and Remote Camera Control on my computer monitor and Live View on my second monitor. Hope some searching for an improved tethered shooting solution found this helpful!Ī99 and A900 have HDMI out so this setup works for both:
DIVERGENT MEDIA SCOPEBOX PORTABLE
Also note that this is a completely self-supported setup as Intensity Extreme is bus powered via Thunderbolt so it makes for a portable solution if you work in the field. I see it coming especially handy as I start getting into video after all – both of these products are designed for videographers, but they do the trick for photography as well. This solution is not really cheap ($299 for Intensity Extreme, $99 for ScopeBox, $50 Thunderbolt 6' cable) and it’s certainly not perfect, but it works for my needs. You see exactly what you'll be working with in PP.

This is a full screen live view with focus peaking on.

I especially wished for live view on my 27” iMac when working with macro photography. However, the one lacking feature that I really wanted to have was live view option on my computer vs. Neither of these two solutions come even close to the features available in the Camranger for the CanNikon camp.Īnyway, I’ve made do with DNA Software on my A99, but now mostly use RemoteCameraControl as it works for A99 and A77M2, even though the functionality is very simple and doesn’t give you much camera control. Hey guys, so I wanted to share my tethered shooting setup I’ve put together this morning.Īs most of you know, the options to shoot tethered with our Sony Alphas are rather limited, mostly boiling down to the RemoteCameraControl and also DNA Software.
